    English Language Arts K-5 Adoption

    Seattle Public Schools in February 2016 has initiated an adoption process for instructional materials to support reading in grades kindergarten through 5. An adoption committee, comprising teachers, parents and community members, was formed to begin the process in March 2016.

    The instructional materials process will follow the Seattle Public Schools "Selection and Adoption of Instructional Materials, Policy No. 2015" (PDF posted soon). If approved by the Seattle School Board, the new textbooks will be put into use during the 2017-18 school year.

    Applications were reviewed after the March 2 deadline.

    The adoption committee includes principals, teachers, parent/guardians and community members who could provide valuable insight and perspective regarding the instructional materials provided for review.
