    • Gail gave an update about the Native Education Library which can now be found on school library systems.
    • Gail is going to schedule a culture night specific to drum making in the near future. Date to be determined.
    • Kyle and Brent gave an update about restructuring at the district. Native Education previously was under Kyle, Academics and has now been moved under Brent, Race and Equity. They assured the PAC that they would both continue to work together to support the efforts of Native Education.
    • Emma brought up letter of complaint about the CCC curriculum (elementary reading program) and its lack of diversity in authors. Kyle assured us that they are looking into the issue and are encouraging staff to continue use of the program while utilizing books better reflecting the diversity of their students.
    • A discussion of meetings norms was tabled until the next meeting.
    • Students were also present and participated in a holiday gift making workshop and made Christmas gifts for family and friends.

We encourage all parents and guardians of Seattle Public Schools Native American and Alaskan Native Students to attend. The role of the Title Vl Native Education Parent Advisory Committee is to consult with and advise the Seattle School District on the development and operation of the Title Vl Program, assist in the development and approval of the Title Vl grant, and to help organize and conduct community cultural events, it’s important to know that the PAC helps to organize events and raise funds as well. By serving on the PAC parents and guardians of Native American/Alaskan Native Students in Seattle Public Schools can help decide the program goals and activities.
