    Advanced Learning Testing

Please Note Update to Testing Process

The Advanced Learning Department is working on a number of viable options for testing and identification of students during remote learning. More information will be coming soon.

    Testing Process

All K-8 students referred will be evaluated for eligibility to receive Advanced Learning and Highly Capable Services. Historical academic data, math and reading scores, and the Student Characteristics Survey completed by a teacher or community member are all considered as part of the evaluation.

    Private Evaluators

Testing provided by private evaluators will only be accepted for appeals, not in lieu of or as part of initial Seattle Public Schools evaluation. Read more about private evaluators.

The eligibility decision process is conducted by the Advanced Learning Office's Multidisciplinary Selection Committee. The process of determining if a student is eligible for Advanced Learning Programs or Highly Capable Services begins after all required information has been collected for the student.
