School Levies Community Meetings
Planning is underway for two school funding levies to be submitted to Seattle voters in February 2019. Seattle Public Schools requests input and feedback on possible projects.
The 2019 Operations Levy is a renewal of the expiring Operations Levy; it provides approximately 20 percent of the district’s general fund annual budget and supports educational programs not fully funded by the state.
The 2019 Building Excellence V (BEX V) Capital Levy is a renewal of the expiring BEX IV Capital Levy. It will include projects to improve earthquake safety and other security needs, add more space to meet growing enrollment needs, replace or repair school buildings and systems, and fund major preventive maintenance throughout the school district. BEX V would also fund technology for student learning, district systems, and infrastructure and security.
Provide Input and Feedback
At the community meetings, district staff members will present information, collect input and feedback, and answer questions. Interpreters will be available by request. If you, or someone you know, would benefit from an interpreter at a community meeting, please email us before April 17 at capitallevy2019@seattleschools.org.
