    Enroll your student for next school year 

    If your child will be five by August 31, it is time to get ready to enroll for kindergarten. Registration for the 2018-19 school year began Mon., Jan. 8.

    Students living in Seattle are guaranteed an assignment based on their address or at the school best able to serve their needs. Read more about location of student services and programs. Look up your neighborhood school on our Address Lookup Tool webpage.

    Items you will need to register new students (exceptions are made for families in transition)

    • Parent or guardian photo ID
    • Child’s passport or birth certificate
    • Two (2) proofs of home address dated within past eight (8) weeks
    • Child’s immunization (shots) record

    Important dates for 2018-19 school year

    • Jan. 8: Registration begins for 2018-19 school year
    • Jan. 20: Admissions Fair Come learn about Seattle Public Schools' option schools
    • Feb. 5-16: Open Enrollment for School Choice Turn in a choice form to be part of the lottery for a school outside your attendance area. Forms will be available starting Feb. 5.
    • August 20-24: Jump Start, a one-week free transition program for new kindergarten students at most schools. Read more about Jump Start.
    • Sept. 5: First day of school grades 1-12
    • Sept. 10: First day of kindergarten
