    New Middle School Math Textbook Beginning 2018-19 School Year

    After a year-long adoption process, the Department of Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction has identified enVisionmath2.0 from Pearson as the new middle school math textbook.

    On March 7, 2018, School Board voted to approve enVisionmath2.0 as the official instructional material for middle school math instruction beginning in the 2018-19 school year.

    The enVision curriculum is standards-aligned, offers a mix of conceptual and procedural learning, and has excellent supports for students working at all levels.

    This adoption is the result of many months spent reviewing instructional materials from multiple publishers and a nine-week field test with teachers and more than 2,300 students. Based on community feedback, data from the field test and the adoption committee’s review of materials, the adoption committee saw compelling evidence that enVision was the best program for Seattle’s students and teachers.

    Feedback and engagement revealed:

    • Teachers reported that enVision has excellent tools for differentiation and for supporting a wide range of learners
    • Students learning with enVision showed greater growth than other students
    • Students who historically struggled with mathematics benefited from enVision Students reported that enVision was a helpful tool for learning
