    Posted on 01/06/2017

School Board will vote on the 2017-18 SAP on January 11

The Seattle School Board will discuss and take action on the 2017-18 Student Assignment Plan (SAP) on January 11, 2017 at a special meeting of the board.

The meeting is public and the community is invited to attend. The meeting will be held at the John Stanford Center for Educational Excellence (JSCEE) at 2445 3rd Ave S from 4:30 until 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Discussion and approval of the SAP will be the second item on the agenda.

On January 4, at the regular Board meeting, the Seattle School Board delayed the SAP vote in order to analyze the budget implications and gather additional data and feedback from SPS staff and the community.

If you would like to comment and or provide feedback on the original SAP or the Board amendments (VIII.C.4) please contact the Board directly at (School Board and SPS leadership team) or (SPS School Board members).

Additional Background: The Seattle Public Schools Assignment Plan supports assignment of elementary, middle, and high school students to a designated attendance area school based on where a student lives.

During open enrollment families may also apply to option schools. To learn more about the open enrollment process please visit the School Choice webpage or review the enrollment frequently asked questions.

Open enrollment will begin for 2017-18 on Monday, February 13. Families who don’t apply to an option school or have children receiving specialized services offered outside their neighborhood school will be assigned to their neighborhood school as outlined in the 2017-18 SAP. You can review your child’s current assignment by using the address lookup tool.

There is an Option School Choice Fair on January 28 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Cleveland STEM High School.
