    Family Connectors University

    Fall quarter begins October 2, 2018.

    The Family Connectors University program is a 10 week series of classes for adults to inform families about:

    • how to navigate the school system,
    • how to create a higher education culture at home, and
    • how to support a child’s academic success.

    This program is also geared towards strengthening family and community engagement at each school so that every child and family feels welcomed, respected, and valued.

    We are able to provide the program through our partnership with North Seattle College.

    • Language: English and various languages
    • Frequency: Fall, Winter & Spring quarter options
    • Credit: 2 college credits
    • Cost: $37.25 per quarter
      • scholarships are available for families facing financial hardship, or who qualify for the Free & Reduced Lunch program.

    Classes will discuss the following topics:

    1. Setting the Foundation: Family Engagement Best Practices
    2. Navigating the School System
    3. Becoming an Effective Advocate
    4. Effective Culturally Responsive Communication
    5. Navigating Systems that Impact Families
    6. Understanding & Interpreting Data
    7. College & Career Readiness
    8. Education Policy & Politics
    9. Leadership Skills & Assets
    10. Community Connections & Organizing
