High School Level Courses Taken in Middle School
Transcript Changes for High School Courses Students Take During Middle School Grades
Some middle school students may take high school level courses while they are still in middle school.
Per House Bill 1599, Multiple Pathways to Graduation, high school level courses taken in middle school, beginning in the 2019-20 school year, will be added to high school transcripts and will count towards high school graduation requirements.
Talk with Your School Counselor for Changes
Students and families can request to have these courses removed, and can also request that the letter grade be removed from the transcript and replaced with a “pass” mark for credit only.
High School Students:
- High school students and families can see their high school counselor for the request form, and to discuss their options.
- High school level courses taken in middle school prior to the 2019-20 school year may be added to students’ high school transcripts upon request.
- High school students and families can see their high school counselor to find out if they took any eligible courses in middle school, and to discuss their options for adding those courses.
Middle School Students:
- Middle school students and families looking for more information on eligible courses should see their middle school counselor.
How to View Secondary Student Courses
Families can also review high school level courses completed in middle school by logging onto The Source Parent Portal and navigating to the Grade History page. High school level courses taught in middle school are denoted with course codes that begin with “S” and are listed below. Learn more about The Source.
