Washington State Common Assessment of Science (WCAS)

The Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) will be administered beginning in spring 2018 at 5th, 8th, and 11th grade.  These tests fulfill the federal (ESSA) requirement that students be tested in science once at each level: elementary, middle, and high school.  For more on WCAS, visit our WCAS webpage.

Ways to Support your Student’s Science Education

The National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) has developed guidelines for families and caregivers to support children’s science learning outside of school. Visit their Parent Resource Page for information, opportunities, book recommendations, and other resources.  See their Position Statement on Parent Involvement in Science Learning for ways to get involved in supporting your student.
