Spring
Sports Update
Track:
WIAA State Track and Field Meet Pasco WA.
Boys; Congrats to the Boys Track team for their highest finish in
West Seattle history the Boys finished 3rd in state, The team of
Aaron Grymes, Markeem Adams, Christian Crain, Brandon Brown, and
Ian Keithly did a great job in representing WSHS in Pasco this weekend.
April Johnson
also represented WSHS as the only girl to qualify for state. April
finished 8th in the 800m run.
Aaron Grymes
finished 5th in the 100m Dash w/ a time of 11.03
Markeem Adams
finished 5th w/ a time of 22.44
Christian Crain
finished 1st (STATE CHAMP) in the Long Jump w/ a Jump of 22' 7 3/4"
which is 2" off the state record and the best jump in the state
this year.
Brandon Brown
finished 5th in the Long Jump w/ a jump of 21' 11 1/2" and
also finished 6th in the Triple Jump w/ a jump of 44' 1 1/4"
And Of Course
the 4x100m Relay Team of Aaron Grymes, Markeem Adams, Christian
Crain Brandon Brown, and Ian Keithly finished 1st in the State with
a winning time of 44.74
Congrats again
to all of these fine athletes and coaches.
Fast Pitch:
Great year. Finished the season as Metro Sound Division Champs.
Had a great run in the Region and State Play-offs. Eventually Lost
to Mt.Si 3-2 in a loser out state play-off entry game. CONGRATS
to Coach Burr and all of the Girls of the West Seattle Fast pitch
Team
Baseball:
Great job in Metro, and State. Lost first round play-off game to
Meadowdale High 7-3. Great year, expecting great things in the years
to come from this group. Again Congrats to Coach Vitalich and the
"Boys of Spring."
Track and Field:
Girls Track: April Johnson finished 2nd in the 800 and qualified
for state.
Tanya Tarabochia
finished 6th place in the Girls Triple Jump and 7th in the Long
Jump
Lizzie Perkins
finished 10th place in the Girls Triple Jump and 6th in the Long
Jump.
Girls 4x400
team finished 5th place
Girls Track
Team finished 14th place overall.
Boys Track:
Christian Crain finished 1st in the Long Jump, 2nd in the Triple
Jump.
Brandon Brown
finished 2nd in the Long Jump and 3rd in the Triple Jump.
Both Qualified for State in those events.
Aaron Grymes
finished 2nd in the 100m w/ a time of 11.13 and 5th in the 200m
w/ a time of 22.55. Aaron qualified for state in the 100m.
Markeem Adams
finished 3rd in the 100m w/ a time of 11.17 and 3rd in the 200m
w/ a time of 22.32 and qualified for state in both events.
The Boys 4x100m
relay team Aaron Grymes, Markeem Adams, Christian Crain , and Brandon
Brown won Districts w/ a time of 42.52 and qualified for state and
now have the fastest 3A time this year in the State of Washington.
Boys Track Team
tied for 5th in the Metro Championships and are the Champion in
the SeaKing Districts all this with a total of 7 guys: Aaron Grymes,
Christian Crain, Markeem Adams, Brandon Brown, Ian Keithly, Jeramy
Darden, Caleb Fisher.
Congrats to
all of the athletes and coaches that competed in a state sanctioned
athletic event last weekend.

Athletic Participation Fees - Click

The
Policy:
Due to the rising costs associated with the support of the district’s
athletics program and declining resources, the Seattle School Board
approved the proposed Athletic Participation Fee Policy effective
2007-08 school year. Fees will be collected on a per sport basis
with the fee structure listed below. The policy will include but
is not restricted to the following items:
- All Participation
Fees must be colleted when the “Athletic Registration &
Physical Form” is turned in.
- All collected
fees will remain in the ASB account at the building where the
fees were collected, earmarked to support the athletic program.
- ASB cards
MAY be required for athletic participation at the discretion of
the building principal. The WSHS administration has decided that
ASB cards will not be required of athletes. However, only students
who purchase an ASB card will reap the benefits of the card. The
card will cost $25 this year for all students.
- Collected
Athletic Participation fees do NOT:
• Guarantee a spot on the team
• Ensure equal playing time
Fee
Structure:
- 1st. Sport
Participation $50.00
- 2nd. Sport
Participation $25.00
- 1st. Sport
Participation-Free & Reduced Lunch Students $25.00
- 2nd. Sport
Participation-Free & Reduced Lunch Students $12.50
- Three sport
participants are capped at $75.00
NOTE:
Parents/Guardians of students who are unable to afford
the participation fee should contact the coach or athletic director
at their school and complete the Athletic Participation Fee Waiver
Request Form.
Refund
Policy: Refunds will be provide under the following conditions:
- Student
is cut from the squad by the coach
- Student
quits due to illness or injury prior to 1st. contest
- Student
quits due to family moving prior to 1st. contest
- Note: All
refunds must be requested prior to the end of the sports season
