Hello, my name is Shelley Gibson. I am the ELD (English Language Development) teacher here at
Whitworth Elementary. My first year of teaching was in Tegucigalpa, Honduras in a fifth grade class.
My first two years in Seattle Public Schools were at Laurelhurst, then 9 years at Adams Elementary,
and now 5 years at Whitworth. I like to work on my Spanish skills, I love computers, and I love working
with children. I especially like working with students from other countries and cultures because I learn so
much from them. I love to travel, read, watch movies, take classes, and work on my house.

The Rainbow Room has many resources to promote English language skills. We have a large library of
books and pictures. We also have a mini lab with 7 computers for student use. Students in the Rainbow
Room do a lot of reading, writing and speaking. They create books and reports using the computers, as
well as Power Point Presentations, which include student artwork, voices, and photos. We will be posting
student work on our website for families to enjoy at home or in the library. We also present and share our
work within the school.
Our Instructional Assistants are Rocio Luquero from Madrid, Spain and Justin Le, who speaks Vietnamese.
Both Mr. Le and Ms. Luquero divide their schedules between Whitworth and Graham Hill.

Rocio Luquero: Spanish- Mondays, alternate Wednesdays, and Thursdays
|

Justin Le: Vietnamese -Tuesdays,
alternate Wednesdays, and Fridays |
