A Day in the life of Sonam Sakya

I will be telling a bit about

Food- Some of the food I enjoy to eat are my own delicious Tibetan food that my mother and my grandmother make for the family. Also pizza, sushi, hamburgers, taco, and lots of others. At school I usually take my own lunch, because of the long lines during lunch. I usually bring a homemade meal I have a sandwich, juice and some snacks. Some of the foods I really like are Tibetan and Japanese foods. I just really like the sushi and the dumplings. I just really like the taste of seafood. I also like Indian foods that are spicy. Actually there is a homemade recipe from my great grandmother, on new years day. It is called Bhulok (boo-luk). It is made on Losar, which is Tibetan new years day.

Clothes- The clothes that I usually wear are the usual jeans, long sleeve shirts. The store I shop at is Limited Too, and Hollister. In the summer I wear spaghetti tops, skirts, long flowing dresses, and sandals. It feels really nice to just get out of my school clothes into something comfortable. In the winter I wear sweaters, pajamas, and turn on the heat. I'm not a very good designer to make any clothes, so it wouldn't help to make my own. I guess I do have a right amount of clothes, knowing the fact that I don't wear them all. But for right know I am quite satisfied with what I wear.

Fun- For fun I usually have hobbies, like drawing anime. And I really like anime. Over the past few months I think I have drawn over 20 drawings. Sometime in the summer I would like to play the sports, soccer, and volleyball. I've never played any sports in a team before; I guess I am just really shy. During the summer, what I do is go on a ton of camping trips! I think I am going on five this year! I also love going to the beach and swim there, it's soooooo much fun to me! I just really love swimming! I also love traveling to other countries; I've been on a pilgrimage, with my grandparents, in the year 2002. It was the most amazing experience I've ever had in my whole entire life! Although you had to go through the roughest of times, seeing very uneasy sights, but it was all worth it in the end. I got blessings from each holy sight, I got to see the beautiful Ganges holy river, and travel on a train for the first time of my life. In the future I would indeed love to go again! ^_^ Some movies I watch are ANIME! ^_^ Some of the reasons I like anime are because I guess I just really like the fantasy and unrealistic qualities, in many of each series. My favorite two animes right now are, Fushigi Yuugi, and Ayashi no Ceres, by Yuu Watase! I love them!

School, At school my periods, First, computers with Ms. King, second, japanese with Ms. Abe, third, math with Ms. Towers, fourth, science with Mrs. Decoy, and fifth and sixth, with Ms. Stipes. My favorite subject so far is math, and Japnese because I guess I really like learing about the math and learning about a totally different country that I would someday love to go to. The college that I am planning to go to, is the University of Washington, or Stanford, in California. I am planning to probably be a doctor, but I'm not so sure.

My home, what a wonderful thing it is, my house is not really old but it isn't brand new either. My room is full of pink things like a pink Japanese fan, and two sakura (cherry blossom) paper lanterns, and a pink canopy bed. You could say that I love light pink, and light colors. My yards right now is pretty ok; it is also pretty big too. We are planting more and more flowers in the summer. The biggest room in the house is my Grandmother's room, it's downstairs, with a sliding door leading to the backyard. It just has a very cozy, warm feeling to it.

My neighborhod, is very quiet, and peaceful. I used to walk a few blocks to the elementary school I went to, called the Olympic Hills. Then I moved to another school called Broadview Thompson. In the backyard of my house I do see a lot of crows, birds, and sometimes the neighbor's cat. The park I go to isn't really a park, it's the school I used to go to, Olympic Hills. They have a pretty big playground, tetherball nets, and a nice blacktop. I go there a lot in the summer time. It’s just a nice time in the sun after a hard day of school.

My favorite holiday in Tibet would be Losar, the Tibetan new year in March. Usually on the Tibetan new year we wear a tradional clothing that is called a Trooba. We all give eachother gifts, and go to my grandmother's house. In the morning we eat a sweet barley kind of rice, and tea.
