PROJECTS:

1. Continue to review and discuss progress on the Whitman Middle School Transformation Plan.
2. Identify areas of need in the maintenance of the physical plant and grounds:
- determine what we can expect from the district staff
- determine what needs could be met through volunteer projects
- organize volunteer projects in conjunction with staff, students and parents
3. Promote responsible stewardship of the school buildings and property, especially among the students.
4. Ongoing support of the Soundview Park Improvement Project (adjacent to school grounds).

MEETINGS:

Site Council meetings are usually held the first Monday of the month in the Whitman Library from 4PM to 5:30 PM unless otherwise noted. You can check the Whitman calendar for any changes to these dates. The site council welcomes visitors to its meetings. Please contact the Chair if you are interested in receiving meeting minutes.

MISSION:

The mission of the Whitman Middle School Site Council is to focus its efforts to enhance, improve, and maintain the school's environment. By addressing on-site issues, the Site Council supports, strengthens and enables Whitman's students to:
1. increase their academic, social and emotional growth
2. acheive their personal best
3. become respectful, responsible and contributing members of the community
4. develop into lifelong learners.
