Great Summer Adventures and Challenges for Youth!
The Metrocenter YMCA offers outstanding leadership programs for middle and high
school students this summer. The YMCA programs are a formative group
experience rooted in hands-on leadership activities, outdoor adventure
education, service learning, teamwork, communication, and build a strong sense
of self-esteem and self-worth. Programs range from boys and girlsí
leadership to environmental stewardship and web technology. The
Metrocenter YBOYS program is offering seven wilderness expeditions this summer
for boys in 6th through 12th grade. YBOYS Rock
Climbing, Backpacking, and Kayaking expeditions present an opportunity for boys
to develop life and leadership skills while working with strong and diverse
male role models. The Patsy Collins Adventure in Leadership program for girls
in 6th through 8th grade empowers girls with the
self-confidence to lead, the generosity of spirit to give back to their
communities, and the awareness to live a healthy and balanced life. PCAL
offers both residential experience at Camp Orkila and a day program in Seattle.
Many of our participants have not considered themselves as a leader in their
community until a teacher, counselor, mentor or family member encouraged them
to apply and seek out these skills. Please nominate a child or a student
you know to enrich their leadership skills by applying to one of these YMCA
summer leadership programs. More information on these and other great summer
