Music Program: Overview

Welcome to the Whitman Music Program! We are excited to start this new era in music at Whitman and it is our hope that we can lay the groundwork for many years of dedicated, excited music making. The goal of the Whitman Middle School music program is to provide many opportunities for the individual growth of each student. This is achieved primarily through dedicated participation on playing instruments and singing in our many classes. Other opportunities that may come up include concerts, other performances, guest artists and groups, and trips. No matter what the interest or skill level of the student, there is a place for them in the Whitman Music Program. Whitman offers concert band, orchestra, choir, and guitar. OST activities currently include Rock Band, with Jazz Band as a future goal.

Students in music classes will be instructed on improving their skills at their instrument, music reading and writing, and listening. The focus is on working together as an ensemble to be able to create great music.

 All ensembles will perform. Please check the calendar frequently for upcoming performances.

Whitman Music Booster Program
Because the Seattle school district can not fund everything, we also need to run a successful  music program.  Therefore, we now have a booster club to help raise funds and collect items needed.  To learn more please visit our Music Volunteer page.
