Arts:
Stresses
the reading and study of stories, myths, poems, plays and biographical
sketches. The writing program includes the skills of producing well
written narrative, expository, persuasive, descriptive and imaginative
work. Oral and listening skills are stressed in addition to those of
dictionary work, good spelling, punctuation, basic grammar and English
usage appropriate to the developmental level of the student.
Reading:
Grade 6-In this course students select reading material
based on personal preference. Direct instruction is provided in reading
skills. Students are required to participate in oral discussions and
to read from different genres, such as fact, fiction, poetry, and folktales.
