This
is another part of the ongoing work at Whitman to help each child know
they are valued. We want every child to come to school knowing they will
be safe and can focus on learning.

Whitman Middle School's staff will be implementing a school wide anti-bullying program designed by Dr. Dan Olweus and supported by Seattle Public Schools and Communities That Care. The Whitman staff has chosen to focus on The OLWEUS Program, which is characterized by both school-wide, and classroom interventions that address bullying.
Whitman staff will be utilizing classroom interventions such as regular classroom meetings, incorporation of bullying themes into curriculum, and the use of role-plays. School-wide consequences are being developed and will include parent communications, and progressive discipline. The Whitman anti-bullying policy will be clearly communicated to all students.
