Wedgwood
Elementary (K-5)
Wedgwood is an outstanding learning community, created by our excellent
teachers, supportive parents, and enthusiastic students. At Wedgwood,
students experience meaningful, varied and challenging learning opportunities.
Our school is known for its extremely strong reading program and high
expectations for all. Wedgwood's fourth graders performed exceptionally
well on the WASL, with 98.1% meeting standards in reading and 94.4%
meeting standards in math. There is a strong focus on integrating technology
and the visual, literary and performing arts into our instructional
program. We acknowledge, value and respect all cultures within our
school community. This combined with the blending of students in regular
and special education, and our self-contained Spectrum program promotes
a unique and diverse community for all our students. Our curriculum
is based in our core subjects of reading, writing and math and is enriched
with: physical education, vocal and instrumental music, Junior Great
Books, Accelerated Reader, inquiry-based math and science, Passport
club (geography), and drawing classes given by a local artist. Students
learn leadership skills by participating in student council, conflict
managers, tour ambassadors, and safety patrol. We also offer chess
club, choir, math championship, world languages, art and science camps,
Taekwondo, and an on-site Kid's Time childcare (operated by Ravenna-Eckstein
Community Center).
Kindergarten: We offer full-day K, but can accommodate half-day
students. (Talk with the principal about half-day attendance.)
The 2005-2006 fee for full-day K is $135 per month (subject to
change for 2006-2007). Classroom sizes are limited to 23 students
per class. Fee waived for students eligible for free/reduced
price meals. No fee for half-day K.
