Principal - Veronica Maria Gallardo
I am so pleased to begin my second year with the
Seattle Public School District and Wedgwood Elementary. I am genuinely
excited to continue working with SPS because its’ core values
of rigor, relevance, and building relationships with every student
resonate strongly with my own ideals and values as an instructional
leader. Through my work with the leadership team within the district
and as a committee member of Race and Equity Relations, Seattle
Public Schools/Seattle Education Association Professional Development
Steering Committee and the Center for Educational Leadership UW/SPS,
I can continue the difficult work of eliminating the achievement
gap, a goal that has been at the heart of my own work as an educator
during the past nine years. Furthermore, I am honored to be a part
of a community of educators that will work diligently to create
an educational environment that will enable our students to succeed
academically and to become exceptional citizens in our communities.
I believe that principals today must understand that one person
alone does not create a productive learning environment, but rather
a team of educators and learners seeking to achieve the same goals.
Collaboration with our colleagues can enhance the work we do in the
classroom by helping us to implement our best practices and creating
a culture of support for success for all students. This type of working
arrangement often provides the best results for parents, students
and teachers.
Finally, I genuinely believe in the importance of continued professional
training and development for me individually as well as for the staff.
This is something that can have benefits for the entire school community
by allowing individuals to maximize their capabilities as educators
and professionals.
Welcome to our Wedgwood School Community.
