Giving at View Ridge
We have a large number of volunteers
at View Ridge. It's not uncommon to see several parents working
in a classroom at any one time. At Curriculum Night, early in
the year, teachers discuss classroom volunteering. In addition,
the PTA has over fifty committee positions, and many more people
working hard to support those committees. Our PTA brings in money
to support classrooms, and many community members offer the meaningful
help of the time and energy we put into our school. View Ridge's
giving is about much more than dollar amounts. It's about encouraging
academic and personal success for all our children, in many different
ways. There are as many ways to give as there are members of this
community.
There are several ways we raise
money to support our classrooms and community. The Annual
Appeal raises money that goes directly to our classrooms
by adding funds to our school's budget. Every other year we hold
an Auction, with proceeds supporting many
programs, including teacher needs, our music and art programs,
special projects like disaster preparedness, and the operating
budget in general. View Ridge parents who purchase Scrip
cards or use eScrip support our school even
while they shop. In addition, the View Ridge PTA holds several
fundraisers throughout the school year that fund the operating
budget. The operating budget covers expenses from our community
builders, like Boo Ridge, Science Night, the Ice Cream Social,
and Arts Night, enrichment assemblies, like Pacific Science center
assemblies, Chinese New Year celebration and the Harmony run,
as well as Family Support, which helps our families in need. Fundraisers
also help to provide grants to all teachers and specialists to
supplement their classroom supplies budgets. The Birthday Book
Program and Bring-A-Grownup-To-Lunch Day are funded by PTA fundraising
efforts, as are administrative costs like copies and PTA insurance.
