Welcome to Viewlands
Elementary School
The Viewlands Way
Our mission is to
promote self-reliance and personal responsibility.
Our motto is "Expect the best and make it happen."
Respect, safety, and self-reliance. These three guidelines for our school behavior policy help promote self-reliance and personal responsibility. Staff uses the Second Step program to promote empathy; the anti-bullying program to teach students how to make good choices in social play; and Discipline with Love and Logic.
Every week the entire school attends the Monday Morning Meeting. Here students gather for music, stories, and math brain teasers; learn about current happenings; and watch the ever popular Not Ready for Recess Players, staff members who re-enact recent social situations and brainstorm alternative solutions.
At Viewlands Elementary School, staff, students, parents, and community members work as a cohesive team to promote academic success, self-reliance and personal responsibility. We promote academic success by setting high expectations for achievement and lifelong learning, providing stimulating curriculum that emphasizes literacy, supporting use of curriculum-aligned, meaningful assessments of academic achievement that include frequent monitoring of progress and are routinely adjusted to accommodate learner needs.
We promote self-reliance and personal responsibility by expecting everyone to complete his/her work and follow through on his/her goals and celebrating competency, effort and achievement.
Viewlands is a school where all stakeholders expect the best and make it happen.
