Kindergarten Classes |
Our full day Kindergarten classes will attend mornings only from 8:55-12:00 a.m. for the first two weeks of school. This allows time for teachers to assess each child individually and to conference with parents. The children will eat lunch at 11:30 a.m-12:00 Noon before going home. Our Half-Day Kindergarten class will attend mornings " only from 8:55 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. These students will eat lunch at home. |
Learning Resource Center (Library) |
Van Asselt has a full-time librarian who provides weekly instruction to every student. |
Special Education |
Three generic special education classrooms provide special education instructional activities in a small group setting. |
Family Support Worker |
The family support worker provides students and families with needed support and access to social services available. |
Therapy Centers |
Physical, occupational and speech therapy is provided for students. |
Child Development Center (CDC) |
Individual and small group help for children needing short term counseling intervention. |
Comprehensive Bilingual Center |
ESL teachers/Bilingual reading specialists and four Bilingual Instructional assistants provide help for bilingual students. |
Technology |
Individual classrooms create computer-based projects several times weekly. |
Head Start |
Preschool instruction for three and four year old children meeting the required guidelines. |

Galef is an approch to teaching and learning. Students discover there are "different ways of knowing." |

Physical Education and Music |
Individual classrooms receive physical education and music instruction 2-3 times weekly for 30 minutes. |
Community Learning Learning Center |
Community Learning Center is an afterschool program designed for grades 3-5 and supports those siblings in grades k-2. |
