VAN ASSELT RETURNS TO TAYLOR CREEK |
by Anni X. |
"I really liked going to Taylor Creek last year. It was fun 'cause we got to go on a hike and to catch the water creatures." That's what Darius, a room 25 fifth grader said about last year's trips to Taylor Creek.Taylor Creek goes into Lake Washington. You can find it by turning right on 65th Ave. S. from S. Rainier Ave. The road goes straight into Deadhorse Canyon. Taylor Creek runs down the middle of the canyon. It's called Deadhorse Canyon because they found a dead horse there a long, long time ago and people just started calling it that. |

READING BUDDIES ARE COOL! |
by Jessica T. |
Since September, Rooms 25 and 15 have been reading buddies. Fifth graders are paired up with a first or second grader. The two classes get together once a week to read with each other.Reading Buddies also do dialogue journals. In dialogue journals, you ask questions or write exciting things to your buddy. You can ask questions like, "How are you?" or "What do you like to do at recess?" and much more. If you can talk on a phone, you can do dialogue journals. Also on early release Fridays, reading buddies get together for lunch after they read. |
