Many, many thanks to Teru for leading the CSCA through it's first year and a half.

Reports

Treasurer: (See handout.) Donations still coming in. Materials that promote donations to TCS should state that we can accept Visa/MC. Andy is still working on list of donors to receive thank-you notes.

Students: Students are electing new Senate officers. Students went over "no homework over breaks" policy with teachers

Administration:

  • Funding request for $500 for Coalition for Essential Schools membership tabled until funds requests guidelines determined. (See handout of Principles.)
  • The 2003-04 budget from the District is going to be grim; budget figures should be available by March.

The committee is working with Brian and Judy to hold three more parent meetings this year, tentative topics are March: College Night; April: State of the School and PTA Elections, June: End of the Year Celebration and Student Talent Show.
  • Middle schools have been contacted and a recruitment plan is being developed with Brian and Jon.

Development Committee:

  • EMP won't be partnering with us on auction this year. Committee met with Ginny Anderson (Seattle Center) who was encouraging of doing something with Center tenants. Judy will talk with Center Directors in Feb. TCS is still looking for a signature event and hopes to figure out signature event or another fundraising option by end of the month.
  • Parent who is a Coldwell-Banker real estate agent will donate percentage of commission to TCS, if asked to do so by client.

Volunteer Coordinator: Not much response from parents.

Building Leadership Team: Next retreat dates are Feb. 24 and 26, from 4:30-7:30.

Policy on broadcast emails: Tabled. Becki has a copy of the broadcast list.

Dragon Sculpture: Tabled.

Sports: Bob Poor is trying to organize a Soccer Club. Ultimate Frisbee coach needs to come to meetings. Cross-country is still on the drawing board for fall. Feedback from Emerald City League is that we would need a sport each season.

  • May 2-4 is the PTA annual convention.

Next Meeting: March 3, 2003 from 5-7 p.m.
