Counselor's Corner
Diann Sanusi, Counselor

Welcome back to our 2007-2008 school year!

Welcome to a new school year. Hope you had an enjoyable summer!!! We are off to a great start!!!! We know that students and parents are as excited as we are about all the positive educational activities happening at The Center School. Please review the information below with your student and mark your calendars for these important dates!!!

SENIOR INFORMATION
Students are responsible for managing the completion of their college applications and submitting their materials in a timely manner. The Center School will be responsible for processing student requests for official transcripts, filling out secondary school reports, and writing counselor/teacher recommendations.
Parents should also help their student to finish any physical education and community service hours so that seniors are not waiting until the last minute to complete these requirements.

Washington State History is a state requirement for graduation. Most students take this class in 7th or 8th grade at their middle school. Seniors that have not taken Washington State History will need to see Mr. Bell, Social Studies Teacher at TCS to complete this requirement. Seniors were told last year if they were missing this requirement they needed to see Mr. Bell. If your student took Washington State History but we don't have a record of the class, you will need to contact your middle school and obtain a letter indicating completion.

COLLEGE VISITS AT THE CENTER SCHOOL
The Center School will host various college representatives that will visit our school. Students should check the Counselor's Bulletin Board for dates and times scheduled.

SAT: For test dates and more information please go online to www.collegeboard.com.

ACT: To find out more information and test dates please go to www.actstudent.org.

VOLUNTEERS
We extend a very warm thank you to the many parents who volunteer at The Center School. There is no way we could accomplish as much as we do without you. PARENT VOLUNTEERS - YOU ARE THE BEST!!! Thanks again for always being available for The Center School.

College Application Process

Students are responsible for managing the completion of their college applications and submitting their materials in a timely manner. The Center School will be responsible for processing student requests for official transcripts, filling out secondary school reports and writing counselor/teacher recommendations.

Transcripts: All students will receive 3 official transcripts and 1 unofficial transcript. Each additional official transcript will cost $2.00. Students may make copies of the unofficial transcript at their own expense. Students must allow 5 school days for transcript requests to be processed. Click here for a Transcript Request Form.

Secondary School Reports/Counselor Recommendations: Students will submit secondary school reports and/or counselor recommendations in the box labeled "College Applications" on the front desk. Students should include an envelope with the reports. Students will be notified to pick up their packets from the front desk when completed. Students must allow 10 days for completion of the forms and/or recommendations.

Teacher Recommendations: Students asking teachers for recommendations should allow at least 10 school days for completion. Students should also provide teachers with a copy of their resume, list of schools they are applying to and a stamped envelope addressed to the admissions office for each school.
