Read Naturally is a supplemental reading program used in our 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms. It is a research-based program that builds fluency and comprehension. Students who read fluently read smoothly and easily, without pausing to figure out words. As a result, they can focus on meaning rather than word recognition when they read.
Read Naturally uses the strategies of teacher modeling, repeated readings, and progress monitoring to help each student make progress in their reading.
Each student works at their own pace and on their own level. They go through the steps of the program by first reading along with a recording of each story. They then do repeated readings to improve their fluency and comprehension. As they become more proficient, they move to more challenging levels.
Both beginning readers and proficient readers enjoy this program because of the interesting stories they read. Each level of Read Naturally has 24 nonfiction passages that the students choose from. Our students enjoy this program. The success they have with each completed story builds their confidence and motivates them to continue their progress.
Every student can be successful with this program.
