Foundational Skills & Thinking Skills are balanced in all subject areas. Students at Schmitz Park develop strong foundational skills such as computation, spelling etc. as well as learn to develop problem solving strategies and engage in higher order thinking skills.
Literacy and Communication programs have long been a hallmark of our school as students builds a strong academic foundation.
Academic Support through tutoring and other services are provided to help every student meet and/or exceed academic standards.
The Challenge Program articulates our commitment to offer every student a rich learning experience including those who are ready to work beyond grade level standards. Work in the Challenge Program is focused on depth and breadth of learning rather than acceleration.
Artistic Expression is encouraged in every grade throughout the curriculum. Not only is art incorporated in the daily classroom work but also a full time music teacher and part time instrumental music program helps build students skills in and appreciation of music.
Health and Fitness are taught in our nationally recognized PE program and reinforced through health lessons and recess play.
A Learning Community. Above all else, Schmitz Park Elementary is a powerful learning community. As a community our students learn to work together and treat all people with respect and dignity. Our parents are heavily involved in the school operation. Our staff works closely together to develop a cohesive program that works for all kids. It does not take long in our school to see that Schmitz Park is a warm and welcoming place for all students.
