Welcome to Sacajawea,

We know that starting a new school always lends itself to new anxieties and lots of questions. We just want you to know in advance how the volunteering here at Sacajawea works. First off, on the very first day of school you will get a packet that comes home with your child that has LOTS of paperwork inside. Some are very important papers for you to return ASAP to school and some are just informational. One of the items that come home is called the "PTA Participation Form" and this lists all the volunteer opportunities here at Sacajawea. Please feel free to look this over and return it with any of your interests marked.

Each individual classroom teacher has his or her own in-class volunteer schedule and you are welcome to check with your child’s teacher as to when they will be needing volunteers in their classrooms. All the teachers here at Sacajawea welcome your volunteering interests and will work with you on where your time will best work.

There is also a "Seattle Public Schools Screening" form that every volunteer needs to fill out prior to volunteering here at Sacajawea, so make sure to get that back to school as soon as you can if you are planning on going on field trips or helping out in any way at school.

I look forward to meeting you and having a great year together. Feel free to call or e-mail me if you have any questions regarding volunteer work or about our Tuesday After School classes (information in the first day packet on this).

Please sign in and out at the office every time you volunteer, including work that you do at home and field trip chaperoning. We need to account for every person in the building, and we also love to see how those volunteer hours add up every year!

Sincerely,

Ki Pemberton
