Personal and Professional History

I have been teaching since 1984. I am a movement specialist, trained through the Creative Dance Center, and wrote a Master’s Thesis on incorporating movement into the classroom curriculum. I use these concepts and skills daily to increase brain development and more joy in learning. I am delighted to call Sacajawea my home!

Overview

We are connecting visual and the performing arts with reading, writing, and math. For example, we plan to perform two class plays (involving reading and writing) during our Monday Morning Assemblies. Becoming more proficient watercolorists increases Room 5 students’ enthusiasm for the 3 R’s. Math concepts are shared through song, movement, drawing, and whispering in the ear of a friend. We have a supportive, lively classroom family and love to learn, each in our own way!
