Our Mission
Seattle Public Schools Head Start educates and supports young children and their families to enhance their potential for success as life-long learners!

Head Start is a federally funded child development program for low-income children and their families. The Head Start programs in Seattle Public Schools serve three- and four-year-old children, offering half-day and full-day programs at various schools in the district. At Roxhill We currently hold one AM Session and two PM sessions. Am runs from 8:00- 11:45 and the Pm from 1:00-4:45.

Services

The Head Start services include:

  • A literacy-based early childhood education program
  • An individual education plan for each child
  • Door-to-door transportation (half-day programs only)
  • Programs for students with special needs and disabilities
  • Interpreter support for children with limited English skills
  • Meals and/or snacks

Enrolling

 

Enrollment is open year-round. Enroll your child at any time to get on the waiting list for the next opening in a Head Start program.

Requirements:
1.
The Seattle Public Schools Head Start program serves three and four year old children. Your child must reach the age of three or four by August 31 in order to enroll.

2. Head Start programs are for low-income families. You will be asked to provide proof of your income for the preceeding calendar year.

3. Seattle Public Schools Head Start programs are for families residing in Seattle. Your child must live within the Seattle city limits.

To enroll your child:
1. Complete a Seattle Public Schools Head Start Application.

  2. Gather the following documents to submit with your application.

  • a copy of the child's immunization record
  • the child's birth certificate or other proof of the date of birth
  • a copy of a current medical coupon/medical insurance
  • proof of your family income for the preceeding calendar year.
