Science Club at John Rogers Elementary

Science Club News!

Science Club is back!  Meetings will begin Wednesday, October 10, with a Nature Walk to Meadowbrook Pond for Science Club members in grades K-2.  Also in October, there will be a Salmon Field Trip to Bear Creek, lead by salmon biologist (and John Rogers parent) Larry Lowe.  This special field trip will be held Sunday afternoon, October 21, and is open to all Science Club members, grades K-5, and their families.  Last year’s salmon field trip was a great success!  We are very grateful to Larry for offering to lead the field trip again this year.

We have a terrific line up of “Guest Experts” this year, featuring several parents of John Rogers students, as well as distinguished scientists from the community.  We will meet once a month, after school, on Wednesday afternoons (see the calendar below), in the lunchroom.  We will alternate months between the younger (grades K-2) and older groups (grades 3-5).  There will not be a meeting in December.  Science Club is supported by the John Rogers PTA, is lead by Kim McCormick, Ph. D., a John Rogers parent, and is free of charge.

Watch your Kid’s Mail for Science Club Registration Forms and the Salmon Field Trip information.  A Walking Field Trip Permission form is also required for participation in several of our meetings.  Meeting reminders will be sent via kid’s mail approximately one week in advance of the meeting date.  If you did not receive a registration form, or have any questions about Science Club, please contact Kim McCormick, at kim.mccormick@comcast.net (phone 206-362-3378).
