     PTA     Library      About Us

John Rogers is dedicated to helping all students succeed. Our devoted staff works diligently to differentiate instruction and curriculum to meet the needs of all students. John Rogers provides rigorous academic programs. Our students are challenged by our use of inquiry-based science, Accelerated Reader, Investigations Math, Storypath Social Studies and Accelerated Math to match the state Grade Level Expectations. Technology and the arts are integrated into curriculum to enrich student learning. Our commitment is to have all students meet or exceed standards. In addition, we provide a warm and caring environment where all families and cultures are respected. The sense of community is evident throughout the building by the interactions among students, staff and families. Additional John Rogers highlights:

  • Energetic and dedicated PTA
  • Schoolwide family events (Harvest Festival, Math and Science Night)
  • A variety of afterschool programs, including Music Club, Science Club, Chess Club, Drama Club and Math Olympiad
  • Outstanding outdoor play areas, including newer playground and new lower field for the 2007-2008 school year
  • Near-site childcare

Second Grade:

  • The second grade team holds high expectations for all students with an emphasis on meeting the needs of all learners. A solid educational program in reading, writing, communication, math, science, and art is provided. Writing is incorporated throughout all curriculum areas.
  • Our field trips include attending plays at the Seattle Children’s Theater, the Rain Forest Exhibit at the Woodland Park Zoo, and exploring the beach at low tide.  These field trips extend student learning beyond the classroom.
  • Throughout the school day, second graders are encouraged to think critically and to reflect on their learning. Their different learning styles are accommodated through independent and collaborative work practices.
