From the desk of the Principal:

I want you all to know how hard the Third, Fourth and Fifth graders worked on their WASL tests!  I also want to thank all of you for making sure your child was ready by having plenty of rest and breakfast in the morning. The students took the test seriously and tried their hardest.  I want to thank all of them for being fabulous students once again!

The staff discussed attendance at the last Building Leadership Team meeting and then the staff meeting.  While we have seen an improvement in children coming late to school, we still have a number who frequently leave early.  When students leave early they miss the closing of their day.  The teacher has to stop teaching, meet with that student to discuss the homework and then get the class back on track.  Please, make every effort to make appointments that don’t cause this disruption.

Our dynamic PTA is in need of a President.  Van Kantner has served as President for two years and this is the end of her term.  Please contact her if you are interested.  This position could also be done by two people as co-presidents.  You don’t have to be at school all the time to be an effective president.  Working parents can do this job.  Please give it some thought.

The Auction was marvelous!  I want to thank everyone who helped to make this a huge success by being on the Auction Committee, attending and/or helping on those room projects!  The room projects were spectacular!  Thank you for all your help. We are in need of an Auction Chair for next year.  This year three people Julie Hearne, Bridget Anderson and Joanna Yoder took on the three big tasks – procurement, facilities and data entry.  Are there three friends who would like to do this for next year?  Again, let Van Kantner know if you want to be this fabulous team!

The end of the school year is approaching.  May and June will find the students busy enjoying field trips, camps, Beach Day, Field Day and 5th Grade Graduation!  I hope to see many of you at these events.   The last day of school is June 17th.
