Attendance Policy and Process

Regular attendance is essential for satisfactory performance in school. There is a very strong relationship between passing grades and good attendance. WAC 180-40-235 states that "A student’s academic grade or credit in a particular subject or course may be adversely affected by means of tardiness or absences."

Policy- Statement

1. Regular classroom attendance and punctuality are expected and mandatory for all students.
2. A student’s grade and/or credits may be lowered or reduced by irregular attendance and/or tardiness.
3. Excessive tardiness or unexcused tardies will result in discipline.

Policy Statement Procedure

• Five (5) absences (excused or unexcused) in a class -- School intervention & Official letter will be sent home
• More than twelve (12) absences in a class -- Loss of full credit in that class (Student must file an appeal)
