George Willaims - Science Department Head - received a B.S. of Science degree at University of Puget Sound, a teaching certificate from the University of Washington and a Masters in Fisheries and Ocean Science. He taught high school science for 3 years in Australia and 2 years in Papua New Guinea. In 1979, he became a scuba diving instructor which helped him finance graduate school at the UW, where he received his Masters degree in Fisheries and Ocean science. In 1981 and 1982, he spent a year doing research in Antarticia with National Science Foundation and Scripps Institute of Oceanography. He worked on various environmental and fisheries research projects as a scientist and consultant. He also taught oceanography part-time at Highline Comu nity College. He has 3 children, ages 21, 16 and 13. |
