OVPTA Scrip Program Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is scrip?
A.“Scrip” is “fundraising while you shop” in the form of gift cards or certificates that you can use just like cash at many of your favorite retailers.

Q. How does the PTA make money from scrip sales?
A. When the PTA purchases a large amount of scrip, retailers give us a price break, most often in the range of 5%.  We then sell the scrip cards or certificates to you at face value to recover that initial expenditure.

Q. Am I paying extra to use scrip?
A. Absolutely not!  You buy a $50 Kroger gift card, you have $50 to spend at Fred Meyer or QFC.  This is a terrific way for everyone to support Olympic View WITH NO EXTRA OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES.

Q. Which vendors are participating in Olympic View’s scrip program?
A. Our participating vendors are:

• Kroger (Fred Meyer/QFC): these cards are available for sale at school Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. The PTA earns 5% on every purchase!
• PCC:PCC is offering RECHARGABLE cards or key tags.  Buy your original card from OVPTA, then reload at any PCC cash register.  OVPTA gets 5% of the reload value every time!  (Reload minimum is $50).  Also available at school.
• **Café Javasti- NEW THIS YEAR!  This local neighborhood coffee house offers the PTA a 10% discount on our scrip purchases!  Available at school.
• Safeway:  online registration is available through www.escrip.com.  Register your Safeway Club card under Group Name: Olympic View Elementary, Group i.d.#: 8565444.  You must swipe your club card for OV to get credit.
• Whole Foods Market:  register your method of payment (debit/credit/ATM card) through www.escrip.com.  Group Name: Olympic View, Group i.d.: 8565444.
• Albertsons:  online registration available here as well.  Go to www.albertsons.com and register under our Community Partners i.d.#:  49001011706; Vendor #:  5202263; Password:  eagles
• Great Lakes Scrip Center: OVPTA has created an account with this scrip clearinghouse that offers an incredible number of vendors to our community!  Visit their website at www.glscrip.com and view the list of participating retailers.  Examples are Starbuck’s, Subway, REI, Sports Authority, Lowe’s Hardware, Home Depot, L.L. Bean, Ace Hardware, Barnes & Noble, Macy’s, T.J. Maxx, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Rite Aid, Toys R Us, American Airlines, ARCO gas, EXXON, Old Navy, Best Buy, the list goes on and on!! 
  
  Complete an order form and return it with your payment to the scrip sales volunteer by Friday at 9:30 a.m.  Your order will be available for pick-up or distribution through Kid Mail by Weds. morning.  You can order any vendor, any amount, no minimum.
