PTA After-School Program
This is PTA sponsored program for all students of Olympic View. It consists
of three separate sessions of 6 classes each. Sessions are offered after school in
the Fall, Winter and Spring. Classes offered are usually in science, foreign language, arts
& crafts, music and athletics. This is a fun opportunity for students
to experience new activities or old favorites. The Olympic View PTA underwrites
this program.
Chess Club
The Chess Club meets every Friday in the Cafeteria
from 3:30 – 4:30. You get more than
20 days of chess instruction, free admission to two tournaments, and chess
puzzle workbook (available in four different levels) developed by three
time Chess Champion, Elena Donaldson. Priority is given to 3rd, 4th, and
5th graders* If space permits, first and second graders who are very enthusiastic
about chess and are accompanied by one of their parents (due to the intensity
of the class) may be considered.
Drama Production
Olympic View Elementary has an outstanding after school drama program
run by the PTA, that culminates in an amazing musical production by the
3rd, 4th and 5th graders. For the past three years the play has been shown
at the Nathan Hale Performing Arts Center to sold out shows. The plays
have ranged from "the Princess Bride", a 50's version of "Midsummer's
Night Dream", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Alice
in Wonderland", "the Three Musketeers" to "Sasprella", a western version of
the classic Cinderella story conceived and adapted by David Drummond.
Parent involvement is key to these shows and is represented in hundreds
of ways, from producing the play, to costumes, choreography, props, scenery,
chaperoning, etc. . . For more information on this year's production visit the Drama Production page.
Math Club
We are very excited about an opportunity available to our 4th and 5th
grade students as we begin our first ever Olympic View Math Club team!
Math Club will stimulate enthusiasm for mathematics by challenging
our students’ mathematical thinking in a fun, supportive team setting.
Our Math Club team will meet for one hour each week to practice math
and prepare for competitions. Additional information about Math Club
will be coming home with 4th and 5th grade students in kidmail.
