once a week for twenty minutes most weeks that school is in session. One
morning for K-2 and one morning for 3-5. We sing and play musical games.
We performed one concert last year in the spring and will add one more
concert this year. We also perform at school assemblies.
Everyone in K-5th grade is welcome-no fee or audition required-just a
desire to sing!!!!!! Stay tuned for more details. Accompanists encouraged
to volunteer.

Drama Production
Olympic View Elementary has an outstanding after school drama program
run by the PTA, that culminates in an amazing musical production by the
3rd, 4th and 5th graders. For the past two years the play has been shown
at the Nathan Hale Performing Arts Center to sold out shows. The plays
have ranged from "the Princess Bride", a 50's version of "Midsummer's
Night Dream", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Alice
in Wonderland" to "the Three Musketeers".
This year's drama production will be Sasparella, a western version of
the classic Cinderella story conceived and adapted by David Drummond and
directed by Heather Hawkins. Sasparella is a fun musical packed with hysterical
characters and lots of music from the folk and western music canon. Performances
will be during the evening of February 1st and 2nd at the Nathan Hale
Performing Arts Center.
Parent involvement is key to these shows and is represented in hundreds
of ways, from producing the play, to costumes, choreography, props, scenery,
chaperoning, etc. . .
Instrumental Music
Instrumental music is offered to 4th and 5th grade students. The program
is designed to provide an introduction to and appreciation of instrumental
music by providing 30 minutes of instruction each week in a number of
different percussion, string and wind instruments.
Math Club
We are very excited about an opportunity available to our 4th and 5th
grade students as we begin our first ever Olympic View Math Club team!
Math Club will stimulate enthusiasm for mathematics by challenging
our students’ mathematical thinking in a fun, supportive team setting.
Our Math Club team will meet for one hour each week to practice math
and prepare for competitions. Additional information about Math Club
will be coming home with 4th and 5th grade students in kidmail.
Safety Patrol
Interested 4th and 5th grade students may apply to be a member of our
school safety patrol. The safety patrol helps to direct traffic and serve
as crossing guards on the intersection at 8th and 95th NE.
Student Council
Students from each of our classrooms, K-5, are elected to be representatives
on our student council. The student council finds solutions to quality
of life issues impacting Olympic View Students. Each year, the student
council organizes a school-wide service project, and a variety of school
spirit days. For more information about student council, contact Mr. Moynihan
at tmoynihan@seattleschools.org
Conflict Mediators
Interested 4th and 5th grade students may apply to receive training
to be one of several conflict mediators who work on our school playground.
Conflict mediators assist our playground supervisors by assisting students
in finding peaceful solutions to problems that arise on the playground.
For more information about conflict mediators, contact Mary
McDaniel, Head Teacher.
