“You have brains in your head.  You have feet in your shoes.  You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”

_Oh the Places You’ll Go.  Dr. Seuss, 1990

Spring has sprung.  As a principal, you can always tell the moment spring has arrived in the school.  Children are twitterpated!  If today was any indication of the growth spurt that children seem to go through in the spring, we are in for a huge crop!

It is that time of year again for all of us, staff and families to go over the school guidelines with our students.  Remember, the policy is HANDS OFF.  I have been working with students this last year on three main ways to stop a problem.  Walk away, Ignore or say Stop.  Then we talk about what to do if those 3 things do not work.  We have also been working on the difference between tattling and reporting.

I know if we work as a team, we can keep the focus on the academics and keep the students motivated to tending to the virtues.  Thanks for working with us from now until June 17th!

It has also been a big growth spurt for academics.  I have had the pleasure of enjoying students sharing their writing and reading with me the last couple of weeks.  I have been impressed at the level of detail and voice in the stories and the fluency in the reading.  As a teacher, I always enjoyed the spring as I could really see the progress the students had made.

As you know, this next month and a half will fly by.  Please mark your calendars for all the events between now and then.  I know many of you will not want to miss out on any of them.

This Thursday, please join us for our kick-off assembly for freedom and help join a family discussion if you can.

In the meantime,

Peace

Joanne Bowers, Principal
