“It is helpful to know the proper way to behave so one can decide whether or not to be proper.”
_Ella Enchanted, Gail Carson Levine, 1997
“Let’s all do the hop, let’s go to the hop.” I am excited to experience my first sock hop at North Beach this Friday, February 8th starting at 6:30 pm. Friday, we are also showing our school spirit. Student Council is asking us to come to school dressed up in clothes from the 50’s. I love to see school spirit so students do your best to show it!
We started our new pick up policy this week. Staff is giving me feedback about how it is working and I will be out at different areas each day. Thanks again for working with us.
I have been reflecting about our year so far and feel like we have made so much progress.
We have a up and running and licensed childcare, a booming population, after school clubs are all organized and have a place to be, many new library books, new computers on the way, virtues assemblies that are building our community, procedures to have safe and sane drop off and pick up, incredible fundraisers, fantastic socials and so much more. I have really been digging into that well!
North Beach staff has been working hard since we returned from winter break. Students are prepping again for our next Chronicle issue that is coming out in March, a huge math assessment school wide took place last week, we have been working on our transformation plan and looking deeply at what we can do to address reading, and writing and science. Math has been the focus for some time and our students are making progress.
This month our virtue is LOVE. As we move into next week, it will be a great virtue to talk about as classrooms celebrate Valentines Day, a day of friendship and love. “The real law lives in the kindness of our hearts. If our hearts are empty, no law or political reform can fill them.” Tolstoy. We kick off our virtue this Thursday at 2:30 as we also recognize Martin Luther King. Come and join us if you can.
Have a great week.
Peace and Love
