A message from the School Nurse

Hi, my name is Mary Proudfoot. I am your child’s school nurse.  I have been working at North Beach Elementary for 3 years.  I am a registered nurse, have a Masters of Science in Nursing degree, and am certified as an Educational Staff Associate School Nurse.  I love working here at North Beach with your children. My goal is to try to help kids stay healthy so that they can do well in their academic and social development.  Please let me know how I can assist you.  Contact me at (206) 252-1517 or maproudfoot@seattleschools.org.

Did you know that 2007 was the 100th anniversary of school nurses working in the Seattle School District?  Back in 1907, the School Board hired two nurses.  Today, the District has more than 50 nurses hired to work with students age 3 through 21 years. We still have the mission of getting children ready to learn, but we are not alone. Seattle District has formed partnerships with many community medical, dental and mental health providers who work inside the schools. Students now have access to expanded health services through the high school Teen Clinics and middle school Wellness Centers. You can find a wealth of health information and resources on the district school nurse website at www.seattleschools.org/area/healthservices.
