- Arranging or Encouraging Fights Results in Long Term Suspension **New District Rule - 1/27/04*
- Fighting - Results in immediate suspension.
If you see a fight, leave the area immediately and find an adult.
Do not watch a fight or you could be in trouble for encouraging fights.

What can it look like?
Mean (negative) treatment (examples - threats, injury, gossip, jokes, put downs, teasing, ignoring)
It happens again and again.
The student being picked on feels they have less control or power than the bully or harasser.
What to do.
Tell the person to stop.
Tell an adult
- Play Fighting and Horseplay
Are not allowed at school.

- Swearing and Put-Downs are not allowed because they:

- Indetify Yourself/Follow Derictions-For your safety and the safety of others:
Tell staff members your name when asked.
Follow staff derictions.

Be in every class on time every day (On time mean you are in your seat ready to work when the bell rings.)
You should not be on campus before 7:15 or after 2:30
Closed Campus - You cannot leave school during the day without permission.
Excused Absence are
personal illness or injury
family illness, death, or injury
What to do when you have an excused Absence
Bring a note signed by your parent or gaurdian with the 1) date 2) time and 3) reason for leaving.
Make up any class work you missed.
If you are gone for more than four days in a row you must bring in a doctor's note.
Leaving Early requries:
You take a note to the Attendence Office before school starts

Unexcused Absences - State law reqiures that all schools:
1 Unexcused Absence - Phone Call Home
2 Unexcused Absence - Letter or Phone Call Home
7 unexcused Absence in a month or 10 Unexcused Absences in a year - Truancy filed in Superior Court.

Headgear is not allowed inside the buildings at Mercer Middle School
Religious beliefs - A note from the parent or guardian for students wearing a headgear for religious beliefs must be turned in to an administrator or counselor.

- Hall Passes should be:
Filled out completely
Used whenever you are out of class
- Electronics (cell phones, CD players, radios, tape recorders, handheld games, ect.)
Turn them off and put them away when you get to school.
Must be turned over to staff if you have them out at school.
Will be returned only to a parent or guardian.
- Computers and Technology
Are located in classrooms, the library, and the computer lab.
- Lockers - Mercer is not responsible for lost or stolen items
Two students share a locker
Lockers are assigned in Block class the first two weeks of school.
Locker Safety
Always spin the lock after you lock your locker.
Share your locker with ONLY your locker partner.
Tell NO ONE your combination.
If you see someone trying to learn your combination report it to an adult.
Do not bring vaulables to school.
- Phone Calls
Emergencies only
Phone calls must be made with a staff member present
- Student I.D Cards - Do not give your I.D to another student.
You must have your I.D to attend any school activity.
You can not replace your I.D the same day as an activity
It costs $5.00 to have Ms. Libert in the bookroom replace you I.D.
- School Activities
School dances and school activities are for Mercer students only.
Visitors will not be allowed to attend school activities.
All Mercer and school district apply.
