Our new McClure Librarian, Ms. Kristen Gale, has many new ideas she would like to implement for the school library this year. In order to implement everything, she is eager to work with parent volunteers. Below is a list of some of the ways help could be used in the library.
Some of the ways in which volunteers may help:
- Operate the circulation desk (check in/out books, search the catalog, etc.)
- Shelve books
- Maintain neatness and organization of the library
- Assist students on computers - volunteers who are technologically inclined would be very helpful.
- Assist students in finding books
- Create or help with bulletin boards, displays, and signage
- Laminate posters for teachers
Ms. Gale would like to have parent volunteers available in the library throughout the day, as she hopes to be instructing students and teachers in their classrooms, in the computer lab, and in the library.
Ms. Gale would love to have volunteers that have had experience volunteering in a library before, but if you are new, interested and willing to learn, she would love to have your help. Don't be shy! This is a great way to get into the school and provide a valuable service, and training will be available
