Dear McClure Families:
On behalf of the PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association), we wish to welcome you to McClure, and encourage you to volunteer at the school and either renew or join the McClure PTSA.
The mission of the National PTA is:
- To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
- To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children;
- To encourage parent and public involvement in the schools of this nation.
Research specific to middle schools shows shows that YOU not your income or your education make the difference. When parents and guardians are involved, students have:
- Increased motivation and better self-esteem
- Higher grades, test scores, and graduation rates
- Better school attendance
- Decreased use of alcohol and other drugs
- Fewer instances of violent behavior
- Greater enrollment rates in postsecondary education
Students need you more than ever to help guide them in their decision-making. One way you can have a positive impact in the life of your and other students is to join the McClure PTSA. Our board meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM in the school library, and general membership meetings are held about four times per year. We look forward to meeting you!
Best Regards,
The McClure PTSA Board
