Maverick Out of School Time (MOST)


Class Descriptions

Creative Cooking, Tuesdays, Janet Bell - Students will explore recipes from around the world and prepare various dishes everyday

Drawing/Painting, Thursdays, Janet Bell< - Students will acquire art techniques while learning elements of art (shape, color, texture, form, etc).

Homework Club, Mon-Thurs, Ms. Newell, Connie Mei, and volunteers - Students will receive help on homework, missing assignments, and projects.

Movie Club, Mondays, Ms. Chambers - Students will have a chance to watch new and classic movies and discuss their likes/dislikes, possible societal impacts, and trends.

Weights and Fitness, Thursdays, Austin Foundation - Students will improve on strength, endurance, and stamina through exercise, gym games, and various weight lifting techniques.

Girls Soccer, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Marko Tubic - Girls will learn the value of team sports while experiencing competition. This class shows participants the value of good physical fitness.

Rock Band, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Mr. Manzo - Students will gain an appreciation for music while learning the basics of rock and roll music. They will also gain valuable team experience.

Hip Hop Dance, Wednesdays, ArtsCorps - Students will enjoy this culturally enriching and active class. Students have the opportunity for fun and the benefit of fitness at the same time.

Ultimate Frisbee, Mondays and Wednesdays, Mr. Sklar - A creative, active, and fun way for students to learn team skills.

Pottery, Fridays, Jane Meagher - Students learn about an art form practiced and valued around the world. The students will have a project goal for the end of class. Get ready to be messy!

Book Club, Tuesdays, Ms. Gale - This program will meet once per month to discuss the book chosen for the month.

Graffiti Art, Tuesdays, Aaron Johnson - This program will be very hands-on and students will learn the history and general knowledge of graffiti art and its culture.

Creative Writing, Wednesdays, Janet Bell - This program will focus on student authors improving literacy and communication skills through various writing prompts, selected readings, and a book art project.

Debate Club, Wednesdays, Josh Anderson - This program will give students an opportunity to learn the art of debate in a fun, team-based environment.

Young Entrepreneurs, Wednesdays, Melanie Boehm - This program is all about building leadership skills and business savvy. Students will develop business and marketing plans.

MOST Rules and Expectations

  • Students who do not follow MOST Club or School Rules may lose after school privileges.
  • Students must pre-register and listed on the Club Attendance Roster in order to participate.
  • Classes are limited spaces, therefore students are placed on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Be sure your choices do not conflict. If a conflict exists we will assume the first choice.
  • Clubs meet from 2:30pm – 4:30pm. Students are expected to arrive on time, and to stay in the activity area for the duration of that clubs time.
  • Snack is provided. Going off campus, such as to a store (before, during or after sessions) is not allowed.
  • The school will provide activity buses Monday – Thursday, or will give students Metro bus tokens to those needing transportation home after their activity.
  • Students are NOT allowed to remain after school or use district transportation if they engage in an activity outside of a school-sponsored program or stay without parent permission.
