Our Classrooms

Mrs. Youngman/ Mrs. Lepse

Welcome to Room 3, Kindergarten

Our first and most important class objective is to create a safe learning environment for each student.

The classroom is set up to allow for a variety of experiences to help insure each student’s success.  We pride ourselves in meeting the needs of all children in a developmentally appropriate classroom setting.  We strive to create first hand experiences for the children by venturing out into the community on field trips.  Students work independently on open-ended activities and at other times they work with one another in small groups.  This allows for the diversification of the curriculum.  Lessons focus on integration of the curriculum using multiple intelligence techniques, higher level thinking skills, and problem solving skills.

The kindergarten curriculum is based on the Seattle Standards Based Learning System.  The core curriculum consists of Writing, Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies.  Enrichment in the curriculum consists of Physical Education, Music, Spanish, and Library classes.  A kindergartener’s work is his play and that too is a basic part of our curriculum.  The home center, building blocks, writing center, computer center, reading center, the manipulatives, puzzles, art center and play dough center, are all important pieces of the curriculum that help develop life long learners.

Come see us in action!
