Parking at Lowell

Lowell Elementary is located in a busy residential district where parking can be tight and parking restrictions are strictly enforced. Fortunately, during the school day when many residents are at work, parking is not difficult to find.

Mornings

  • Supervision on the field/play structure begins at 9:00.   Please do not let children onto those areas until 9:00.

  • The area on the west side of 11th Avenue between Aloha and the end of the field is for drop-off only.   Please do not park there as your parked/idling vehicle prevents others from using that space for dropping their children off.

  • Please park in a legal parking spot in the neighborhood if you wish to walk your child to the play area or to wait with your child in the play area.

  • Parents dropping off on 11th Avenue should enter 11th from Aloha, drive south, drop off their children, and then turn left (east) on Roy.   Please do not drive on 11th between Roy and Mercer from 9:00-9:40 or 3:05-3:40.   We need that area for buses and for vehicles that transport children with special needs.

  • Please keep all Lowell traffic flowing east on Roy all day long.

  • Please do not enter 11th from Mercer at any time.   Although it is legally a two-way street, Lowell traffic should only go south on 11th .

  • What happens if you need to drop off your child after the 9:20 bell?   Check in at the main office at the 11th & Mercer entrance to sign your child in.

Afternoons

  • Please plan on arriving before school ends and parking in a legal parking spot.   Walk to the northern doors by the playground gates to the area known as "The Wall."   Your child will meet you there.

  • Federal Avenue is lined with school buses in the afternoon.   Although you may find a parking spot on Federal, please don't plan on using that street as a thoroughfare during bus loading times.

  • Special education buses enter 11th from Aloha each afternoon.   Please be respectful of the size and needs of those buses.   Parking away from 11th allows for easy movement of those buses.

  • A staff member "collects" all students who haven't been picked up by 3:40.   Those students will be taken to the bench outside of the office to wait for their transportation.

School Parking Lot

  • The lot is for staff only.   We currently have 60 staff with only 52 parking places.

  • Non-permitted vehicles in the lot will be ticketed.

  • The lot is open for evening event parking such as Curriculum Night, PTA meetings, Movie Night, Bingo, etc....

  • Need more than the two hours allowed in our zones neighborhood?   Aloha between 10th and 12th has no restrictions on parking as well as 12th Ave north of Roy.

What irritates our neighbors?

  • Lowell drivers who block driveways or park illegally even if it's just for a moment.   Please, please, please, never do this even for a moment.   It makes for poor relations with our usually patient neighbors.

Main Entrance at Mercer & 11th

  • This is an immediate loading/unloading area and signed as such.   You will be ticketed if you are waiting or leave your vehicle unattended.
