Upcoming Music Concerts

Mark your calendars for these music concerts in December. 

 

Tuesday, December 8th:  Kindergarten -1st grade Music Concert 6:30 p.m.—8:00 p.m.
Thursday, December 10th:  Instrumental Music and Choir Concert  7:00 p.m.
Tuesday, December 15th:  Holiday Music Assembly 1:45 p.m.

 

FYI - the 2nd - 5th graders will get their turn sometime during the second half of the school year so stay tuned.

 

Christmas Tree Fundraiser

If you are buying a Christmas tree this year, we hope you will join us at the Lawton Elementary School PTA's Christmas Tree Lot to find your perfect tree.  We'll be selling Noble Firs, Fraser Firs, Grand Firs and Douglas Firs, all at competitive prices.  Prices start at $40 and go up according to tree size.  Please tell your neighbors, friends and families to come have some cider, enjoy the festive atmosphere and benefit the programs the Lawton PTA funds for all the kids at Lawton. Penny Harvest Progress Report

The kids (and you parent helpers) are doing great with the penny harvesting. The school has collected a total of 6 - 30lb bags (about $300). Our goal is 20 bags ($1000), so keep bringing in the pennies!

 

Sally Foster & Entertainment Book Sale a Success!

Thank you to all the kids who sold Sally Foster and Entertainment Books to raise money for their school. Together students brought in just over $6,500!!

 

New Middle and High School Proposed Assignment Boundaries

On November 4, the Seattle School District presented recommendations to the School Board on assignment boundaries, and the Board will vote on November 18.

SPS Curriculum Alignment Community Meetings

Please join Seattle Public Schools instructional leaders to learn more about the work of aligning curriculum. We’ll discuss our alignment work and provide more information about the upcoming instructional materials adoption for high school Language Arts courses to be followed by adoptions for World Languages and Social Studies for 4^th and 8^th grades.  Flyer and meeting dates attached.

Upcoming Education Levies

Ramona Hattendorf, President of the Seattle Counsel PTSA and Lawton mom, gave a presentation at the general PTA meeting last Thursday evening explaining the Washington State PTSA’s position the upcoming education levies.  If you have any questions for Ramona, please email her at ramona1030@clearwire.net.  Also, click here to view the slideshow produced by Schools First! in support of the upcoming levies.  If you can’t view Powerpoint, email Ramona for a hard copy.  Regardless of how you decide to vote, just VOTE.  Ramona pointed out that only 30% of parents vote in the state of Washington.  Let’s do something about that!
