Hi Laurelhurst Families,

I am so pleased to be the school counselor at Laurelhurst. It is a wonderful school with excellent staff and a tremendous amount of support and resources for our students. I am here as a resource for parents and students. Please be sure to explore my links. You will learn more about the services I provide as well as resources in the community and the plethora of information available on the Internet.

This year is my 15th year as a school counselor. I have worked most of my career at the elementary level. I attended Washington State University where I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. I then went on to Gonzaga University where I earned a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. Most of my learning has occurred while working in schools with students, parents and staff.

I was born and raised in Washington. I have moved around the country since graduating from college and have been able to work with a variety of student populations.

This year I will offer a variety of services. I will be doing classroom guidance lessons focusing on topics such as problem solving, study skills, social skills, coping with feelings and career awareness. I also provide small counseling groups and short-term individual counseling on an as needed basis. The specifics of these groups can be found in the small group counseling link. Please feel free to contact me via phone at 206-252-5434 or e-mail at aawood@seattleschools.org. I look forward to working with you and your child(ren).

Sincerely,

Angie Wood
